About

G.I. Mutts came out of the dog rescue work of Ian and Bethany Carroll. While fostering dogs in Oklahoma City, they encountered Paws 4 Purpose. After learning more about Ian’s story, and seeing how much he had bonded with his foster Koda, P4P explained to Ian that they could train Koda to become a service dog and help Ian manage his PTSD.

Ian, a Marine Corp Veteran, was deeply interested in the effectiveness of using dogs to help manage the effects of PTSD. Having served and deployed in OIF I, Ian has first-hand experience of the long-term impact combat tours can have, as well as the challenges that face service members returning to civilian life.

The more he and Bethany talked about it, the more passionate they became about helping other veterans in the same way P4P helped them, and just like that G.I. Mutts was born.

G.I. Mutts is a 501c3 currently based in Indianapolis.
